• What is a grinder?

  Grinders are a three headed planetary walk behind machine that takes diamond or resin tooling to grind or polish concrete. They can also be used to prep a slab for a coating or overlay, removing adhesives or contaminants, or to polish a concrete slab.

• When should I use a grinder?

  Use a grinder when needing to grind no more than 1/8” of concrete. Grinders are less aggressive than scarifiers. If polishing concrete is required after removing a coating or adhesives then a grinder is more appropriate as a grinder is less aggressive.

• Questions to ask before renting a grinder

  • What is your power source? House power vs. generator.

  • What power is available? 220v single phase, 208v 3 phase, 480v 3 phase

  • Does the equipment need to be delivered to the jobsite? Most equipment is heavy and requires a box truck with a lift gate.

  • What is the access like to get the equipment on site? Do you need to hoist the equipment into the building or is there an elevator?

  • What is the end goal or purpose for renting equipment. i.e., removing flooring, removal of mastic, profile a surface for a coating, grinding uneven concrete.
